Lithium-iron batteries are a new energy source on the market, characterised by high electrical efficiency, small size and, importantly, low risk. Depending on the manufacturer, packs of this type can perform up to 1000 usable duty cycles. The technology used to manufacture lithium-iron batteries has helped to ensure that they have a significantly longer service life compared to other lithium-based batteries and can also be used in poorer working conditions without the risk of damage.

LiFe packages can be stored in a loaded state. The risk of combustion or explosion is minimised in such a case. These batteries are currently one of the safest on the market.

Voltages obtained from lithium-iron batteries are only insignificantly lower than those from LiPo or LiIon-batteries. However, it has no significant influence on the electrical efficiency. The discharge curve for these batteries is more favourable than for conventional NiMH batteries.

To avoid damaging the batteries and to prolong their service life, it is forbidden to discharge a battery to less than 2.5 V per cell. It is important to remember that unused packs will also discharge slowly.

To maintain the good condition of LiFe-batteries, microprocessor chargers should be used.
