R series produced by Classic Army under the Apex brand, under which the manufacturer has decided to cover as many modern technological solutions used in airsoft as possible while maintaining the low price. The R series focuses on the modern look of the receiver - a look that makes it possible to distinguish the Apex series from other AR replicas on the market. The R-Series is a practical solution combined with a modern style of assault rifles. All manipulators are placed on both sides of the replica, which makes them easy to use for both left- and right-handed shooters. The replica has a special set of functional manipulators: double-sided magazine release, double-sided bolt catch release will certainly be popular with many users and will save their skin in various combat situations.

Internally, the R-series uses the same gearbox as the Mk.13 series, but does not have blow-back to improve energy efficiency and extend battery and piston life. A precision 6.03 mm calibre barrel and a rotating metal hop-up (new, improved design of the hop-up chamber) are standard features of the series.

The second generation of Apex rifles on the R5 platform is characterised by numerous improvements to the internal mechanisms. All polymer elements have been replaced with cold-resistant polymers, including the trigger switch and piston. The gears have been made from high quality steel to achieve remarkable durability. In addition, low resistance wires were used with a MOSFET module that "bypasses" the trigger switch, thereby reducing energy consumption, improving the response to the trigger and reducing thermal stress on the internal elements.

The replica's receiver, folding rear sight, handguard, outer barrel and stock slide are made of metal, while the stock and pistol grip are made of polymer. The steel elements include the flash hider and all mounting elements - pins, springs and screws.
