Lithium-ion polymer (LiPo) batteries are the successors to the well-known lithium-ion (LiIon) battery packs. The fundamental advantage of LiPo batteries is undoubtedly the ratio of capacity to dimensions. The batteries can be charged very often without being discharged first. Frequent charging is very advantageous for this type of battery.

You must remember not to leave the LiPo battery under 3V per cell and not to unload it over 4.2V per cell to overcharge. Another advantage of the LiPo battery is the low self-discharge. An unused battery loses only 3 % to 5 % of its energy.
