Description

Beretta M9A3 - modernised, licensed and simply beautiful. The latest U.S.A. Beretta pistol as a CO₂ version for 4.5 mm BBs.

More and more manufacturers of originals are starting to produce the gun body from polymer. This includes Beretta, which has changed a lot with this modern American military version and has already been on the market with a polymer body for some time.

This version is the full metal version, hence the suffix FM for Full Metal. This Beretta M9A3 comes with new grip panels that fit even better in the hand than previous versions. (By earlier versions we do not mean the identical polymer version, but M9A1, M9A2 etc.)
Of course, the Picatinny rail under the barrel should not be missing in a military version. Another new feature is the left-hand thread for silencers (see pictures), which is protected by an end nut.
As with many American pistols, there is also an attachment for lanyards.

The workmanship is successful and the matt black tone with a grey tint of the barrel is extremely modern and elegant. Depending on the screen, the grey may or may not be noticeable. It is best to take a look at the end nut of the muzzle. The end nut is deep black.
The OD green is more matt than on the screens we have tested.

The markings BERETTA U.S.A. CORP. ACKK. MD. and so on are all neatly lasered. The weapon law markings are very discreet.

The authentic operation is very nicely done. The action is open, just like a real steel version. When first loaded, the metal slide reveals the interior, which is rather rare with CO₂ pistols.
Since the M9A3 CO₂ pistol has a very good blow back and the slide moves back and forth with every shot and does so loudly, crisply and over a fairly long distance (see pictures), shooting is authentic and fun.
Here is a hint: the M9A3 is almost not lubricated and the slide is unnecessarily worn. As the pistol is super easy to disassemble, as with a high-quality GBB, we strongly recommend lubricating the barrel rails with a little silicone oil. The same goes for the nozzle, which arrives very dry. No spray, it evaporates too quickly. Gun oil also works, but don't use WD40 or similar. Lubricated, it slides as it should.

Once the last BB has been fired, the slide remains trapped in the rear position and, as with the original, when a refilled magazine is reinserted and the slide stop lever on the left side is actuated, the slide snaps forwards again and the pistol is immediately ready to fire. We don't want to be annoying, but once again, oil the slide so that it moves forwards with real vigour and reliably picks up the first BB.

Anti-slip surfaces are incorporated at the end of the slide to make it easier to load through. Behind this is the safety catch on both sides, which prevents through-loading.

With a CO₂ 12 g cartridge, you can fire approx. 60-70 shots before the energy decreases too much. The energy is around 2.5 joules.

The CO₂ capsule is securely and easily screwed into the magazine. Many CO₂ magazines are open at the sides, which doesn't really look true to the original. Here, the magazine is completely closed, which simply looks better. Thanks to the base cover with hexagonal hole, you can still see whether a capsule is in the magazine.
Filling the magazine with 4.5 mm BBs is easy in principle, as the magazine spring can be engaged after pulling it down and there is an approx. 5 mm hole above it through which the BBs can simply slide into the magazine.

As with most magazines, we warn you not to let the magazine spring shoot upwards without BBs in the magazine, as the spring has force and could damage the magazine lips.

A 4.5 mm speed loader, see matching article, speeds up filling extremely.

The M9A3 has an adjustable hop-up, a small rotating wheel on the barrel. To access it, the slide must be removed. As with the original, this is very easy. Unfortunately, Umarex has included the instructions for the normal M9A3, where it is not explained. If in doubt, just have a look on YouTube.

The Beretta M9A3 FM CO₂ pistol convinces us almost across the board for the price. What we clearly don't like, please read, is the cocking via the slide. The lever that pushes the hammer back sits low and is short. This automatically results in a somewhat uncomfortably heavy cocking in the rear area.
In addition, the tap hits the outlet valve unusually hard and the paint flakes off. This is already the case on delivery. This would happen sooner or later through use anyway, but we wanted to mention it straight away.

You will need BBs in 4.5 mm calibre and 12 g CO₂ capsules for operation.
