TheCM16 R8-L carbine replica from G&G was developed as part of the Combat Machine Project designed to offer high quality replicas in a price range that is considered "low budget". Combat Machine replicas are of the highest quality characteristic of G&G in terms of craftsmanship, operation and the materials used in construction. The main feature that made the price reduction possible was the use of high quality polymer as the material for the receiver of the replica instead of metal. Also noteworthy is the fact that the case is made of a glass fibre reinforced polymer The same applies to the hand guard, the shaft and all other polymer elements. The metal parts include: Outer barrel, stock tube, swivel and most small parts.

The replica has an SF stock with rubber cap. A battery is housed inside the stock. The shaft is adjustable, allowing the length of the replica to be adapted to the user's build and preferences. The set includes a replica of the M2 reflex sight - a very solid replica, largely made of metal and equipped with a 22mm RIS rail mount. The sight features a glowing red dot that can be infinitely adjusted both horizontally and vertically.

TheCM16 R8-L has one upper 22mm mounting rail along the entire body and a set of three long rails on the handguard. This complete conversion allows the attachment of a wide range of additional accessories such as: optical sights, grips, tactical torches and laser sights.

The replica is supplied with a high-capacity polymer magazine (300 BBs).

The replica has a V2 gearbox based on 8mm bearings, which makes it possible, a muzzle velocity of approx. 415FPS directly after unpacking. This and the use of a 357mm long inner barrel make the replica ideal for fighting at medium range. Inside there is a tight pneumatic system, equipped with a first-class hop-up chamber and packing.
