Lithium-ion polymer (LiPo) batteries are the successors to the well-known lithium-ion (LiIon) batteries. The fundamental advantage of LiPo batteries is undoubtedly the ratio of capacity to dimensions. They are Very small and at the same time very energy-efficientwhich makes it possible to select a suitable battery pack for practically any AEG replica. There is no memory effect. The batteries can be charged very often without being discharged first. Frequent charging is very advantageous for this type of battery.

You must remember not to leave the LiPo battery under 3V per cell and not to unload it over 4.2V per cell to overcharge. Another advantage of the LiPo battery is the low self-discharge. An unused battery loses only 3 % to 5 % of its energy. If you store the battery for a longer period of time, it may discharge below the minimum value (3V per cell) and thus cause irreversible chemical reactions, which can lead to a deterioration in the properties of the battery, including permanent damage and, in extreme cases, spontaneous combustion. An unused LiPo battery should be charged to around 70 %.
