You must check the battery, because if you store the battery for a longer period of time, the battery can discharge below the minimum value (3 V per cell) and thus lead to irreversible chemical reactions that deteriorate the properties of the battery and damage it permanently and, in extreme cases, can lead to spontaneous combustion. An unused LiPo battery should be charged to around 70 %.

If the LiPo batteries are used properly, their service life should be around 500 to 700 cycles.  The operating temperature of LiPo batteries is very important. In contrast to conventional batteries, LiPo cells cope well with low temperatures. Nevertheless, they should be charged at room temperature. To keep the LiPo batteries in good shape, they should be balanced during the charging process using a service plug, which most LiPo batteries are equipped with (a good LiPo charger has a built-in balancer).
