Description

Telescope BK 609EQ1

Reflector telescope with an aperture of 60 mm and a focal length of 900 mm. The telescope is suspended from the EQ1 equatorial mount, which is designed for astronomical observations. Equatorial mounts make it possible to follow the observed object as it moves across the sky. In addition, the mount has micromovements, thanks to which the telescope can be precisely aligned with the object. This telescope is well suited for observing the moon, it allows you to see the basic details of the planets of the solar system, and after using an additional solar filter, it allows you to observe sunspots.

Optical system

BK609EQ1 is a long focal length achromatic refractor. This means that it is a refracting telescope built on the basis of a two-element objective with lenses made of two different types of optical glass. The lens diameter is 60 mm and the focal length is 900 mm. With a light output of f/15, such a telescope can be considered a long-focus telescope best suited for lunar, solar (with filter) and planetary observations. The set also includes 2 Kellner lenses with a focal length of 25 mm and 10 mm.

Mounting:

The telescope is suspended on a lightweight EQ1 equatorial mount. This is a mount designed for beginners and is the lightest of the equatorial mounts manufactured by Sky-Watcher. Instead of the azimuth and altitude axes, such a mount has two axes that are inclined at an angle corresponding to the latitude. Thanks to this axis arrangement, the tracking of objects in the sky only takes place in one axis. It is even possible to connect a simple optional drive, which significantly increases comfort by keeping the objects in the telescope's field of view. This is capable of micro-movements, i.e. special buttons that allow the telescope to be moved smoothly in both axes

Objective:

The telescope is equipped with a 1.25″ lens. It is a rack & pinion lift. The 1.25″ standard mirror angle attachment is included in the set. The focusser is compatible with the Sky-Watcher eyepiece.

Observations

Solar system
- Sun: visible spots and grain (observations only with the objective filter)
- Mercury: visible phase of the planet under favourable conditions
- Venus: visible phase
- Moon: Visible surface details larger than 4 km, mountains, craters and seas
- Mars: A slight polar cap may be visible at opposition
- Jupiter: two stripes on the surface of the planet, changes in the position of the Galilean moons
- Saturn: the planet's ring is visible and the brightest moon, Titan
- Uranus: shown as a star
- Neptune: shown as a star

The stars
- Separation of systems with a distance of over 2.2″
- Stars with a brightness of at least 11.4

Deep Sky Objects
- Open star clusters from the Messier catalogue
- Globular clusters appear as bright spots
- Nebulae that are visible at low magnification
- Galaxies that are visible as cloudy spots
